It
is known that the TrueDepth sensor supports Face ID technology by
dropping a pattern of 30,000 laser points on the user's face to generate
a three-dimensional image for authentication. The sensor proposed to be
merged will use the time- of-flight instead, which calculates the laser's time it takes to fall on surrounding objects and create its 3D image.
Apple has released the ARKit platform this year, a software tool that helps developers create applications that support enhanced reality and has proven to be successful with core enhanced functions, but still needs to be developed for more complex images lacking depth perception. 3D backlight will help alleviate these problems.
